There are lots of ways for you to use Woggle’s tools. To do lists aren’t always just about tasks you have to achieve within a deadlines – they can also be “to bring” lists, or “to buy” lists. They might even be a packing lists or a check lists.
Here’s a great example showing how you can use Woggle lists to keep track of the gear you need to bring with you on your camp and make sure it gets safely there and back again!
To Bring lists.
The trick is to use two lists. One is for “stuff we know we need to bring with us”. Then, create a second one that is empty at first – it’s for the “we have it, it’s ready to go”.
So, what goes on a basic “Stuff we have to bring” list?
- Tents (add a note about how many or which ones to bring or use a separate list if you have lots – call it “Tents to bring”).
- Cookers
- Gas
- Water containers
- Plates
- Cups
- Forks
- Spoons
- etc. etc.
You get the idea, it can be as detailed as you need. For a big trip, you might need a lot of detail and several “To bring lists” – one for tents, one for cooking gear, one for kitchen stuff, fires, pioneering etc. For a small camp a few headings might be enough. Get your scouts, guides, beavers or cubs to help with the lists. They should be telling you what to bring.
But – remember that what seems like too much detail to you (because you know what to bring) might not be nearly enough if someone else is searching the store room, going shopping or packing the van or the bus.Now as you’re getting the gear together for the trip, move the items over to the “Ready to go” list.
If you have to buy something, remember to add it to your expenses. (Take a picture of the receipt with your phone, add it straight into Woggle for later).
Lastly, mark the items as “done” when they’re safely in someone’s car or the van or on the trailer.
When you’re going home again. Uncheck the done items in the ready to go list, and put them back in the “To bring list”. When they’re back in your den and put away, mark them done. Your quartermaster will be happy everything’s being checked, and your treasurer will love you if you’ve photographed and stored all your receipts!
